Dear Team,

I am planning to apply MES for few of my clients. Due to lockdown they wont be able to sign it physically and MES specifically says print and sign by hand. Given the current situation is it okay to sign it electronically or fix an electronic signature. I reached to Services Australia and they dont seem to have an answer.

I was hoping to see if there was a view on this.

Thanks

Vishy

Hello @carticiyer

The Medicare Entitlement Statement is obtained from Medicare (Services Australia), so we can't really give any formal advice about this.

Having said that, I have done some research for you and found the following information on the Services Australia website:

Download and complete the Application for a Medicare Entitlement Statement form.

To complete the form electronically, save a copy of the form before you start filling it in.

Print, sign and scan the form and email it to the Medicare Entitlement Statement Unit.

It sounds like the client will need to print the form, sign it and then email it. You can find the the information here: Application for a Medicare Entitlement Statement form

If you need more information, you will need to contact Services Australia again.

All the best.
