I got a reference number when I called the ATO, how can I use this number in the next incoming calls? I called to change my personal information but it did not work so they gave me a reference number to get a linking code.

That reference number can sometimes be used to help verify you, or to direct our operatives to a note on your account explaining your situation. When you call up you can let us know you have a reference number and we'll search it in our system and go from there.
