Hi, I am wondering if someone can help. I purchaed a laptop for work use and don't know how to claim for it. For this financial year I have owned the laptop for 119 days and used it60% for work. The original cost was $956. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes - if you're an employee, you can claim the decline in value of your laptop. Your eligibility to claim depends on which method of working from home deductions you wish to use. To claim the decline in value of your laptop, you will need to use either the fixed rate or actual costs method.

If you run a business, you may be able to claim a tax deduction for capital expenses over a period of time.
