My Partner has not worked or earnt any income for 2018/19 and for 2020/21 but cannot submit a non lodgment due to the fact she has an ABN. No activity was recorded for that ABN in those years, no deductions or earnings. Is there any specific non lodgment we can submit or do we have to do two tax returns for business having income and deductions as $0? Thank you in advance for any information.

You can cancel the ABN online and backdate the cancel date to when she stopped using it. Then you should be able to progress with the non lodgement advice on line https://www.abr.gov.au/business-super-funds-charities/updating-or-cancelling-your-abn/cancel-your-abn

Thank you very much for the information. The only issue is that in 2018/19 the ABN was created, there was no activity. But then in 2019/2020 there was tax payed and a tax return was lodged, then (due to covid) in 2020/21 again no activity. So for the 2020/2021 year this will be fine, just the very first year we will need figure something out. Thank you again :)
