As an employer, you can choose whether or not you make super contributions on Parental leave pay, though it's currently not compulsory. You can also consult with Fair Work who can confirm your obligations as an employer.


However there's a proposal from 1 july 2022, where superannuation guarantee will be payable on employer-funded paid parental leave at the employee's full salary. If the employer-funded paid parental leave is for a period of time that is less than the government scheme's (18 weeks), superannuation will also be payable on the difference and paid at the minimum wage.


This is not yet law and cannot be relied upon until it is. We will advise of any changes on our website.
