I've previously used NabTrade to purchase ETF shares (on ASX) but I am now looking to diversify and buy shares in US (NASDAQ, NYSE), so am looking to use eToro as they're more cost effective.

Can you confirm if eToro reports my details directly to ATO when I purchase shares? (Whenever I received my draft tax return from accountant, my AU shares were already pre-filled in with dividends details etc, so that made things very easy!). I can't find info on eToro's website whether they do the same thing?

Hopefully if I provide my Tax File number when I sign up to eToro, it's all automatic?

Thanks for your help,

Hi @RoxanneH

If eToro is based overseas then it's unlikely they'll have the capability to report directly to us at the moment. It's important for investors to always keep good records of their transactions to help report accurately, even if we do receive the information straight from third parties. If it's not in the prefill of the return you are lodging, you'll just need to manually include it.
