Hi there, I want to let you know that I have the same issue with my hyphenated surname.
I originally did my drivers license (hyphenated) - no problem.
I then did my passport (non-hyphenated, my maiden name) - no problem.
Didn't even trigger a name change, but I saw my surname on the mygovid had changed to my maiden. This is now causing me a problem in the ServiceWA app, as I can't import my vaccination certificate in as the mygovid has a different surname to medicare.
(*face palm*)
So I deleted (multiple times) and registered again and again (with a hyphenated name) and it still just displays my maiden surname (non-hyphenated).
I validated my drivers license (hyphenated) - no problem but still my maiden name displays.
I then tried to validate my medicare card (hyphenated name) - this then triggers a name change to be validated. Which as I'm in WA, there is an outstanding issue with validating Marriage Certificates. So I was waiting on that to see if that might help in updating the surname....
I have also undertaken the numerous phone calls in regards to the marriage certificate and hyphenated issue. When I originally raised the marriage certificate issue, I was told they couldn't help me any further as they only troubleshoot. They have no insight into the data. I'm glad to see in this forum that the WA Marriage Certificate issue is now being formally investigated with the development team.
Although when I raised the hyphenated issue, they said they hadn't heard of it. I had been made to contact births, deaths and marriages, which of course was fruitless. As there is no issue with my documents, but an issue with the MyGovID app itself.
So at least, you are not alone. Maybe others will have had the same issue and this can be flagged for investigation, rather then us being told we can't be helped.
With WA being 'highly recommended' to use ServiceWA (vaccination certificates and scanning into venues, G2G passes) and the only way to authenticate your identity is with MyGovID, which leaves me in a bit of pickle.
Please investigate ATO as a formal bug in the application. It would be greatly appreciated.
