I now need to update my surname with the ato so i can link it to my new mygov. It will not link without the change and i have tried to phone the ato to update it and it just says to do it online which i cannot do. Can i please get some help with this?

Hi @shelbysawyer91,

There's no need for you to create a new myGov account when you change your name.

If you can log into your original myGov account, go into the ATO section, select my profile and update your name from there. You'll need a change of name certificate or marriage certificate, (not the fancy one), for example for us to verify.

Check out the information on our web site that talks about how to update your name.
