My partner went overseas in April 2022 and suspended her private insurance including hospital coverage while held the policy from start of the financial year, so she is not paying the premium for the last two months of this financial year. The question is will she have to pay the full Medicare Levy Surcharge given her income will fall between tier 2 to 3?

Hi @Summyaci,

On her tax return she'll put the number of days her insurance policy provided an appropriate level of private patient hospital cover. She'll subtract the number of days her policy was suspended.

We'll calculate based on both of your income the amount of Medicare levy surcharge she will need to pay.

We've an awesome calculator on our web site that'll help find out how much we'll ask her to pay.
