Hi, ATO has a very useful page https://onlineservices.ato.gov.au/hydro.aspx?spa=SuperAccounts#CarryForwardConcessionalContributions about how much money I can contribute to unused Carry-forward concessional contributions.

However, I did not find any procedure in ATO website how to claim unused Carry-forward concessional contributions. I find some related threads, such as https://community.ato.gov.au/s/question/a0J9s0000001J2sEAE/p00049512 . But my super company told me a diff story.

For example, I've personal contributed 20k to australian retirement trust already. Let's say, my intention is to contribute 10k to year 2019 and the other 10k to year 2020. I already transfered money to australian retirement trust and their website show I have personal pending contribution 20k.

But australian retirement trust said they know nothing about Carry-forward concessional contributions, that's something I need to claim from ATO. I don't need to submit Notice of intent to claim or vary a deduction for personal super contributions form, which is for current finanical year only. But I want to claim previous year unused concessional super. The form is useless. That's how australian retirement trust told me.

Now I am extremely confused. I have 20k amount personal contribution on my super company but I have no idea where to go.

Will the 20k be displayed on yearly tax return ATO online form? If so, can I choose which year to claim how many amount?

What's the action/step/precedure I need to go to claim Carry-forward concessional contributions?

I am totally lost now.

Yes you do - this covers contributions you actually make in the current year.

The carry forward provisions set the CC cap for the current year - increasing the cap by the mount unclaimed in previous years.

You can find out what you need to know about your unused CC amounts from mygov tax.

Thanks for your reply @Bruce4Tax . I got it.

You mean, I can just claim $20k to this financial year regularly. However, ATO won't charge beyond 27500 part by non-concessional tax rate. Instead, my actual this financial year concessional contribution cap is increased from previous unused concessional super contribution.

Am I right?
