HI there,

Would like to understand whether movement of shares specifically by transfer between broker (Commsec to NabTrade or Stake or Super Hero etc) accounts under the same name triggers a CGT event if not done via 'cost basis'.

Example:

Brought 1000 shares at Commsec at $10 per share (value $10,000) then transferred them to NabTrade when same shares are $15 per share (value $15,000). Does the $5,000 increase in value at the time of transfer between broker accounts trigger a CGT event?

Thanks

Changing brokers is not a CGT event - because there was no change of ownership.
