Can I claim work related expenses (Laptop & Printer) if the receipts are under my spouse's name?

A receipt in someone elses name would be hard to say it was your expense. If you can prove you made the payment then yes. For example a bank transaction if you paid by card would be ok. There are 3 rules to the deductions you can claim (https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/income-and-deductions/deductions-you-can-claim/)on your income tax return. They are: - You must have spent the money yourself and weren't reimbursed - The expenses must directly relate to earning your income - you must have record (https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/income-and-deductions/records-you-need-to-keep/#Recordkeepingexceptions) to prove it If the expense is for work and private use you can only claim the work portion of the expense on your income tax return. You need to keep records of any expense you have claimed for at least 5 years from the date you lodge your Income tax return.
