Hi,

We are managing the estate of the deceased client and as an Executor, we have an obligation to make sure deceased personal Tax returns are up to date. While investigating the assets, we figured out client has big rental income from y2015 to Date of death but Deceased never had Tax file number while being alive. So, wondering how to apply personal TFN for the person who is deceased? thanks in advance.

Hi @HOTSHOT,

You won't be able to for the individual unfortunately. There are many ways you can apply for a TFN for a deceased estate though. You can apply through the abr, a tax agent, or submit a paper application.

Thanks AnitaATO for the reply. Unfortunately, Since deceased had tax liabilities before DOD, then how can we get the TFN of the deceased who never had one. Looking forward to your reply. Appreciate your assistance.
