Private Health insurance has been held all year but there is a line on the tax calculation for a liability which I don't understand. Does this relate perhaps to a HELP debt that is in place. Does this impact on the Private Health Insurance Excess line on the assessment ? The details from the Health Fund have been entered correctly onto the return . Why is there an additional Private Health Insurance premium payable?

Hi @Linda6602,

This shouldn't have anything to do with a HELP debt. It may be how you claim your Private health insurance rebate. Our website advises - If you claim your rebate as a premium reduction, your health insurer will adjust your rebate percentage and the rebate amount. If you claim your rebate as a tax offset in your income tax return, we will apply the adjusted rebate percentages to determine your correct private health insurance tax offset.

If you believe there's some other reason, please let us know.
