I have had an ABN number (and a business) since 2009. When I originally registered, I received a certificate. I have never been asked to produce it since. But now, I am in the midst of a housing crisis, being evicted from my home and unable to find affordable housing in my local area (which is where all of my clients are, and I have to visit them daily). In trying to get a reduction in my rent, I am being asked to produce my ABN registration certificate to prove that I own my business. All of my possessions are in boxes right now, about to be put in storage as I become homeless. I cannot find a way to produce this document. I am unable to access anything online through mygov because (apparently) none of the information the ATO has matches any of my actual information, so I cannot link to the ATO.

Sorry to hear of your current situation but we should be able to assist you.


The Australian Business Register (ABR) should be able to help you out with Paper copies of ABN details.


On our website for Help and support for online services for setting up myGov and linking there's information around known issues and errors where your details do not match customer record have a look at that, we should be able to help get with that as well.


If you have a tax agent, they can log into the ABR and your record and request the document for you as well. 


ABN Lookup provides information to the general public on matching ABN's with entity names and GST registration, this may be an option also.
