I need to establish a Strong MyGovID identity using the mobile App but my passport expired more than 3 years ago. I have called 1300 287 539 Option 3 "Relationship Manager Authorisation Enquiries" seventy times today but with the same recorded voice result that they "are experiencing peak demand & they are unable to answer your call at this time." What are other options for establishing a Strong MyGovID please?
Hi @MrBrbie4507,
Sorry to hear you weren't able to get through over the phone. Unfortunately, without an Australian passport that isn't expired for more than 3 years, you won't be able to obtain a strong myGovID. There isn't another method at this time to obtain a strong ID. Was there something specific you were wanting to obtain the strong ID for? We may be able to help find an alternative method to get that sorted.

I have this same problem. I've just applied to renew my ABN as a sole trader and want to link it to my MyGovID but can't. Why is a passport the only option to obtain strong ID? It seems silly to require this for business within our own country!? I've got everything else! Driver's Licenses have photos, why can't we those!? I have one that's even certified by a JP, how is this of less value than an expired passport??
A Strong myGovID will permit you to self-link to your business in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), this is not mandatory and obviously not everyone can obtain.
With a Standard myGovID you can be linked to your business by two methods:
- Calling the RAM support line
- An existing authorised person
