Hi all.

I've setup a payment plan to pay back what I owe in HECS/HELP from last year (I was working abroad). I've since had my tax return amended as I entered the wrong medicare levy info, this has been accepted by the ATO.

I've since made 3 payments on my payment plan but only the first is showing up. I've noticed there is a small interest fee now. How do I know the ATO is actually recording that I've made the required payments?

Hiya @BrettD,

When you say they aren't showing, do you mean they are showing as unpaid in your payment plan? If you have a look at your account, can you see them being added?

Your payment plan was set up on the account balance you had at the time you agreed to the payment plan. So if your amendment made your account balance higher, it will invalidate your payment plan.

Interest charges do apply to your debt until it is paid in full.
