MyGovID is only showing my first name, not my middle name. How do I correct this? It apparently was confirmed with my passport which clearly has my middle name. Trying to get Director Id and it keeps saying it can't do it and to ring the ATO.

Thank you for your feedback, we use feedback like yours to continuously improve the myGovID app.


It sounds like the ABRS has a different name on record. We recommend contacting the service to update the name they have recorded to match your myGovID 


As already recommended by mi_guv_eye_d you can also use other methods to apply. We apologise for any inconvenience.

You can contact the Director Identification Number support line and they can assist you with registering for a Director ID over the phone.

The myGovID app "display name" you're referring to will have been determined by what you originally input and/or the second identity document you verified after your passport.


myGovID has kept a record of all your verified names, these are known as attributes, and these are available to ALL online services to request for connecting to your name/record in ANY service.


The condition to having access to these extra names is that the online service MUST ask for it as they are not provided by default.


From the experience you have described it makes it evident that the ABRS online service has NOT implemented requesting the extra name attributes, as they have failed to consider all the variations of a person's name according to each identity document.


Others who have experienced this NEED to complain to the ABRS to convince them to make changes that benefit you.


The myGovID community should not have to be concerned about the display name in their myGovID app, what identity documents they have access to, or in what order they are verified.


It is the responsibility of the online service to make your experience as easy and seamless as possible.
