Hi, my client is engaging in selling instant noodles imported from China. From ATO guidelines about GST food classification decision tool and detail food list, I found that sale of this kind of food should be GST free. It is not a prepared food competing with takeaway food because it is still need some cooking steps. Can you please give advice on it? Thanks.

Hello @Maidou
You are correct that the item is GST free, if the client was to prepare the noodles and sell them ready to eat, they would need to charge GST as the food is then fit for human consumption. You can also use the GST food classification decision tool.
