Hi

I'm ineligible to access my small amount ( $1300) of ATO held super. I'm 51 years old. I've been on government benefits for 10 years. In the last 4 years I've been on the Disibilty Support Pension because I will not be able to work again, but I don't have a terminal illness. I'm experiencing EXTREME FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. Any amount would be helpful right now, even if it's diminished by tax being taken out. But all I get when I've spoken to someone at the ATO and trying online is 'Commputer Says No'. Is there ANY way I could change my prediciment? Is there someone higher up at the ATO that could help make me able to withdraw my super? What if I transfer it to a super fund? I am neurodiverse and experience debilitating anxiety and I find it very hard to stand up for myself. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.B

Hello @BruBD,

If you have been unable to action anything online, then you can send in a request via paper form. You can find this information on the Application for payment of ATO Held Super page, this includes an explanation of all the possible reasons we would allow for this super to be paid out. There is an option if you provide documentation and have been on a government support payment for a specific period of time that you may be eligible for. If this option isn't you then I would suggest reading all the options to see if you are eligible.

What if I transfer it to a super fund?

That should work, but you should not have to do this.

You could make a complaint that no-one is explaining it to you in a way that you can understand.

@Bruce4Tax Thank you...it's nice just to get some encouragement. I have tried moving it into a super acc but still 'Computer Says No'...When I access my ATO acc through Services Australia there it is in bright red 'Ineligible to Access'. Now I've at least had some feedback I gird my loins and call them tomorrow...again. Cheers
