My Digital ID is basic and needs to be strengthened but every time I try I get a message (no code that I’ve seen) that’s says my identity can’t be confirmed and then I’m locked from doing anything. This is URGENT as with recent AGSVA upgrades to security clearance applications they now require my digital ID to be at a certain strength!!


I have read as much as I can online to try find a resolution but nothing helps.


No point phoning the support line as it says they are too busy and can’t take calls every time I try them.


What on earth do I need to do to get help from the support team so I can strengthen my digital ID?

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with this.


A code will only be issued where the identity strength has been confirmed as a basic user, or the minimum identity strength has been reached for the service you wish to access.


You may need to add further identity documents to your MyGovID to increase the identity strength.

I have included some information for you that might be helpful.

What is the error message that you're receiving?

From your explanation you've managed to verify your preferred email address and the errors are likely related to identity document input.

Do NOT scan the identity documents, input the information manually.

Do NOT exhaust all your attempts or you will be locked out of the app, cancel and try a different identity document.

Have you confirmed that the identity documents you have are current?

Have you at any time previously registered a myGovID for other purposes? Your identity documents may already be 'locked' to the other email address.

Have you referred to the myGovID website for support information? Help: Proving your identity | myGovID


Depending on your specific circumstances the solution will differ.


Of note online services that offer only one form of authentication, which not everyone can obtain at times for valid reasons, is discrimination.


Your final options are:

  • Complain to your place of work leadership that the AGSVA is discriminating against you because for valid reasons you cannot obtain a working myGovID
  • Write to your local Member of Parliament explaining the same and the AGSVA will obligated to contact you

I think I have exhausted my attempts because ask I can currently is delete the app. Reload it, sign back in etc… then I can see I have basic identity level and when I choose either drivers license ID birth certificate I get a message (I don’t recall a code but the only way to be sure is to do the above again - which maybe I should do??) that simply says your identity can not be verified. I vaguely recall doing this some time ago with my birth certificate which of course has a different surname.

If I’m correct and the issue is the maiden name vs surname then I need to speak with someone on the support line.


I have read all the “help“ information on my Gov. etc.. and none of it helps with this matter unfortunately.


i agree if the support line isn’t going to be available then I’ll have to go to AGSVA or elsewhere!?


Insane to release a program like digital ID and not be able to run a support line service.
