I have been advised that if I retire from my current job (I'm 61) and access my super, I am not permitted to work in another job (should I need to) for more than ten hours per week. Does this rule still apply for retirements under the age of 65 in all industries?

Yes - that is true if you declare to your fund that you have retired.
No - you can still work elsewhere if you declare to your fund that you have ceased a position of employment after age 60.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply:)
To reiterate, I am allowed to retire form my current position, take my super (esssuper defined benefit) and find full-time work elsewhere in another position? Is this correct?
