I have been through all the discussions and done the suggested steps to verify my identity on mygovid, including reinstalling the app and resetting a bunch of times. Each time I get to passport it says cant identify error code 45047, I tried doing the app without passport but cannot get strong identity.

I have tried calling to get help but cannot get through.

I am trying to link centrelink to mygov and so instead tried verifying through centrelink and again once i got to passport verification it cancelled saying my identity couldnt be verified.

can someone please help?

Hi @whysohard,


Error code 45047 means your identity documents have already been used to set up a myGovID. You only need to verify it once.


To understand more have you been able to use myGovID before?

Are you able to verify any other documents?


Centrelink offers another way to link online. You'd need to get in touch with them to find out how. That's just another option until your myGovID is sorted.

Yes, I have been able to use myGovID before, but it keeps asking me to use Passport to get to strong identity. When the passport verification fails, the app deletes all my verification. So I have to start again.

So I proceed to use license, and medicare and these let me verify again, then go through the same procedure with passport and then it fails and wipes my other verifications!!!!


This is the worst app ever! Look at the reviews in the app store, surely a government body can do a better job than this on an app.

on centrelink, as i said in my previous original comment, i tried going through centrelink using the other way to verify that you mentioned, however i got a similar error message and couldnt verify using my passport

Sounds like you’re doing everything right, I’m sorry this is an ongoing issue for you.


From what you've said there are two issues, the passport not verifying and the app deleting all your verifications when the passport fails.


If we can sort out why the passport is not verifying your identity, that will rectify the issue with the deleting of your already verified details.


With the passport not verifying, it sounds like there may be an issue with your details not matching with the rest of your documents. Have you checked your details with Department of Foreign Affairs? It can be one little detail different causing the passport to fail.


I understand you have tried myGovID support unsuccessfully, I'd encourage you to try this again, first thing in the morning is generally the best time.


The support area can check records and identify any issue we’re not able to do on our community page, including why the app is deleting all your verifications.
