how long will my compassionate release super application take

Compassionate release of super applications can take us from 14 days up to 28 days depending on how the application was lodged (online or paper) to assess the application, it can take longer if there is missing or incomplete required information or we need to contact third-party providers regarding the evidence provided.

We’ll send you an email or SMS and an email to advise you, we’ll also send an approval/refusal letter, this may take up to 72 hours to arrive if you have a myGov account, it may take longer if it’s a paper application. We’ll also notify your super fund.

Once the application has been approved, you’ll then need to contact your super fund to arrange the release of your money, they will want a copy of our approval letter to process the payment. You’ll need to speak with them in regards to a time frame for this part
