Hi, can a director of a company be a subcontractor of the same company example director of a company that operates as rideshare vehicles company already has employees. The director wants to be a subcontractor mechanic to the company is this possible or he has to be an employee

The Director can do either, but I would like to clarify.


They can contract their services under a company doing more than 1 business activity. However, if they want to subcontract to their own company; they would generally need to have a different ABN. They would not be able to invoice the company using the companies ABN. If they're doing Director duties this would mean they're Director so it depends what duties they'll be performing.


They could consider the employee route.
