I am currently residing in Sydney and have lodged a TFN application for individuals living outside Australia for my wife who is also in Sydney on Tourist visa. I send the application via post-office to Australian Taxation Office PO Box 9942 MOONEE PONDS VIC 3039. First time, it was lost and second time, it's delayed. I paid for express post but it's taking too long to reach the ATO. Is the address correct?

Yes, that address is correct. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do until we receive the TFN application. Keep in mind that it can take us 28 days to process your application after we've received it.

@GabbyATO I am tracking parcel and postoffice says redirected to new address Essendon Fields VIC. Is it related to ATO? That’s so ridiculous from post office.

So Essendon Fields is a commercial estate attached to the Essendon Airport and this is where Australia Post has one of their mail centres. It's probably the location a lot of mail heads to before being distributed to the local suburban area. You should follow up with Australia post to see what's going on.

Hi @irayes, its not information that we have access too. Even our call centre would not have access to the information until the application is processed.
Hi Kylie, I am not sure if you received my message earlier but I had the post-office stating that they delivered the parcel to a 3rd party that ATO has an agreement with. Post Office is saying that ATO to investigate with the 3rd party or to allow post office to do the investigation on ATO behalf...This is becoming very frustrating and so unprofessional noting that this case has been recurring forever. Please advise what is the next course of action from here...who is the 3rd party that post office is referring to?

@Jodie_ATO @GabbyATO @KylieATO Hello, reference to this ongoing matter, I had a call this morning from Post Office explaining what happened: On the 23rd of Mar, the parcel was sent to POBox at Monee Ponds VIC, then redirected the following day to Essendon Fields VIC to be redirected same day to Cowlishaw Street in Canberra (not sure if suburb is Tuggeranong). Kindly advise why this routing and whether you have a mail center in Cowlishaw St? Thank you

@Austinq it’s ridiculous from post office. I complained to Ombudsman as this is not acceptable.

We haven't been updated since by our member. Hopefully they contacted Aus post about the delay as that is the correct address for the TFN registration/applications.

I'm having the same problem! My package has been delayed at Essendon Fields since 17 Mar 2024! That's about 2 and a half weeks.
@GabbyATO I contacted ATO and they said that the parcel was handed to a third party courier, and that the package would arrive eventually. I contacted my country's postal service, who contacted Australia Post, who said that the package has been lost. I think that PO Box 9942 MOONEE PONDS VIC 3039 on the TFN application form for overseas applicants, is the wrong address to send it to. Can you please give me the final address that all these packages are being rerouted to, so that I can send another application without it having to go through all this rerouting?

I can confirm the PO Box 9942 Moonee Ponds VIC 3039 is the correct postal address for overseas applicants. I'm unable to provide another address.
Australia Post controls how the mail is routed once received in Australia. Are you able to express post from your country instead?
