My wife and I had a joint investment that resulted in a capital loss some ten years ago. Since then, we have carried forward 50% of that loss in each of our tax returns. My wife will now have a capital gains event greater than her 50% share of the loss. Can only her 50% be used to offset the capital gains or can we use my share as well?
