I've spoken to an ATO representative who said my access isn't blocked at their end but I still get the 'access_denied' message when using the link from MyGov or directly on the ATO website. I've seen that others have had their account blocked due to 'security concerns' but have been able to get it unblocked. No one has given me this option. Does the government want us to pay our taxes or not?

When you receive the access denied message, do you get an error code as well?


We had a similar post from another member getting an access denied error. They unlinked the ATO from myGov and then re-linked to the ATO

Hi Danielle,

I don't get an error code, just 'error access_denied.'


I spoke with an agent today and went through the process of unlinking the ATO from MyGov. Unfortunately, I couldn't relink it at all. I then went through the process of clearing cache from two browsers (safari and chrome) on 3 computers (2 macs, 1 windows) and an iPad, plus using three separate internet options I have. Each time I either got the error message or the page said I wasn't connected to the internet (despite being able to open new browser windows, websites and run a speed checker successfully). Firewalls are all off. This happened multiple times in the various configurations of computers, browsers and ISP's. He didn't know how to change or fix that. Do you have any ideas?

Hi Danielle,

I took the advice of the agent and installed Firefox, which worked. I'm all linked up again. Pity it took another browser to make it happen. Seems like a compatibility issue.
