It is said in myGovID application that you need:

Australian passport

Australian driver license

Australian birth certificate

Medicare card

Current passport

Immi card

Citizenship certificate

The only way that I can proof my identity is using my current passport.

But the requirement for "Standard" identity strength is by proofing 2 of the above documents which is "Impossible" to proof as international student.

I want to link ATO to myGov account but this requirement are needed.

I already called ATO regarding this issue but they said they needed 2 of the above documents and can't help me to get the linking code.

Could someone tell me any possible solutions to meet this requirement please?

Hey @nathancl0512,

We're sorry but if you don't have the required documents to reach a standard identity strength then there is no other way that you'll be able to update your identity strength.

MyGov and MyGovID are 2 different services. You don't need a MyGovID to be able to link your MyGov account with us. To link your MyGov account with us you'll need to log into your MyGov account select to link ATO then you'll need to answer 2 questions about your tax record. If you can't answer these questions, then you'll be given the option to use a linking code.

Having MyGovID linked to MyGov will help you if you need to leave Australia and still need access to your MyGov account, but it isn't necessary. You can still access MyGov outside Australia by using the MyGov code generator app.

Hope this helps!

Hi Anita,

May I ask if there is any other way to obtain the linking code? The line [Removed by moderator] is too busy which can not be reached at all. I tried to enter the Super Fund and Bank information but they do not matched what is held on ATO records, I believe this is because I have no history with ATO before...

Thank you.
