I am moving overseas but will continue to work for an Australian company remotely. I understand that I don't have to pay Australia tax if I am no longer an Australian resident for tax purposes. But what if the company pays my wages to my Australian bank account and I am not using the money in overseas? Do I need to pay tax to ATO?

Hi @sschan,

If you're a non-resident for tax purposes as you're no longer Australian resident for tax purposes, you may not pay tax here. Since you're performing the work overseas this can make the income foreign-sourced.

Please refer to our page on residency and source of income to double check your residency status. You and your employer should also check if theres a tax treaty because it will have guidance.
