Hi there,

As a payroll provider we are looking to move to our vendor's online onboarding solution and I was wondering if there is a definitive requirement to receive and store a copy of an employee's actual tax file number declaration and superannuation choice forms. Alternatively, I also understand the advice is now to fill this out via MyGov (in which the onboarding solution refers onboarding employees to) and then once complete, the subsequent forms/details should be sent to us (the payroll provider) for actioning.

However, given they will be providing the required details via entries in the onboarding solution (same or similar version to the actual form) with no actual need for the forms, are either of the above methods actually still required? Can the details provided via the entries in the system act as the record for which we deduct tax and super, or does this not meet ATO/legislative requirements?

Kind Regards

Mitchell
