Do I need to fill out a TFN declaration form for my new job?

I recently started a new job but have kept my old casual job to work every now and then. I used to claim the tax-free threshold for my old job but have filled out another TFN declaration form to no longer claim it from them.

I asked my new employer if I would need to fill out a declaration form with them to claim the tax-free threshold but they thought it wasn't necessary and would be automatic as it is my primary job. Is this true? I also have a HECS debt that I would usually declare on a TFN declaration form.
