death benefit for non-dependant included as income or is it capped?

does the recipient(non dependent) of a lump sum death benefit include the taxed element on their tax return as income??

is the amount capped, and 50% above the amount get included into their tax return as income??

does the untaxed element and tax free element go straight into 'income'? or is there tax offsets also?

i believe i have found the answers on the ato webpage ,but would like some clarification because its not perfectly defined .
