If a business is valued during divorce proceedings to establish the owners share in the business, is the fee able to be claimed as a tax deduction by the owners who receive assessable income from the business (a company) being valued each year in the form of dividends? The business was not sold, only valued for the purposes of the settlement in family court.

Hi @SimoneCJBA

It sounds like it may not be deductible if the valuation wasn't to do with generating income. I'd double check and get tailored technical assistance from us so we can consider all the facts. Head to our website to find out more about this service.
