How to link ATO to myGOV for international students?

Hello,

I am an international student in Australia who needs to file a tax return for the first time here once the financial year ends. I have recently arrived here and I tried answering the two secrets shared between me and the ATO. However, only the super account details match and the bank details are not matching (probably since there were no refunds made and it's an everyday account). I don't have any other secrets which I can match.

Can I get a linking code by calling the ATO (since I don't have any Australian strong ID like drivers' license, I just have govt. issued Proof of Age SA and I'm on a student visa as of now, will they be able to confirm my identity)?

Hi @vshastri,

You should be able to get a linking code! If you have a foreign passport that can be used to verify your identity. We have information about establishing your identity, if you have any other pieces of information we can verify that might be needed as well.
