Hi, Last year in September/October I asked my Employer to withhold an extra $150 in Tax with the idea that I would get it back at Tax time like a forced savings. Looking at my return this year it doesn’t seem like I will get it back. Do I need to manually add this in as a deduction or has it just automatically gone towards my Help loan?

Grateful for any help you can offer. Thanks!

Hi @Jb123,

You won’t need to add that in, your employer should've included it in the info they send us. Did you submit a withholding variation to have them withhold the extra amount? They should have a record they've withheld the extra amount.

All the amounts withheld during the year by your employer go towards covering your total tax liability at the end of the financial year. This includes if you have a study loan and are over the repayment threshold.

So unfortunately, if you haven’t overpaid your tax liability by $150 then it wouldn’t be refunded.
