You can request a refund through your online services if you are a business, or you can have a Tax agent request a manual refund.

thank you - i called the ATO this morning - after an hour i was told it would take 28 days as it needed to be escalated. why is it so hard for an individual to request a refund of a tax credit balance? Why is an easy mechanism only available to tax agents or businesses? Why isnt there an on-line option? I note the last similar request per the link you sent was 2019 - that is 5 years ago - why since then has nothing changed for individuals? i have no confidence I will ever see this money again! ATO really needs to improve their on line services, and perhaps then individuals will not have to waste an hour or more on the phone!
