Hi, im confused whats going on with my tax return. My NOA was issued on monday 24th and I received a sms from ato on Thursday the 20th saying in final stages of processing my refund will be in my account within 3 business days but now I go on and it said issued, method chq.. I haven't received the cheque as of yet and I definitely didn't select cheque as preferred method of refund. I recall putting in my bank details so I'm unsure why this has happened

If the bank account details are left off a tax return or are incorrect and the amounts are returned to us, any refund for your account will be issued as a cheque. Bank account details are removed from the income tax account if they aren't included on the return correctly or updated.


You can check the details of you bank in your ATO app in MyGov.
