As an employed bush regenerator I travel for work and camp or stay in remote unpowered huts. Can I claim meal allowances on meals I prepared myself which I previously brought from the supermarket?
Hi @Taxedman,
That sounds like an interesting occupation. I did find myself searching what a bush regenerator does and the work you do is wonderful.
When it comes to claiming expenses. To claim meal, accommodation, and incidental expenses. You must have incurred the expenses when you travelled and stayed away from your home overnight while performing your work duties. You must also have paid the expenses yourself and not been reimbursed.
We have some great information for work related travel expenses you may find helpful.

Thanks Danielle! This really clears it up for me, this is the first time doing my tax on my own and I'm finding this website really valuable.
I also think the work you do is wonderful, helping us poor souls navigate the tax system. Thanks again!
