I'm a foreign citizen who is currently in Australia as a temporary resident under an employer-sponsored visa (sub-class 186). I will likely apply for permanent residency in order to continue working in Australia indefinitely. If I eventually return to my home country (say in five years), will I be able to claim a DASP for my superannuation?
If I can, I assume this will have to involve cancelling my permanent residence status in some way, as I see that non-permanent residence status is a condition for receiving DASP (https://www.ato.gov.au/Forms/Applying-for-a-Departing-Australia-super-payment/). Or conversely, once permanent residency is achieved will I instead have to wait to withdraw my superannuation until I reach retirement age, even if I have relocated to another country?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
