I have a business with both an ACN and an ABN. I have found a residential apartment in a Local Centre zone I would like to work out of during the day (due to its proximity to potential customers) while maintaining my current place of residence. They will allow me to sign a residential lease having the tenant listed as my company (ABN and ACN are included in the lease) and myself signing on behalf of the company as its director.

I was wondering if this is valid, and that I can pay the rent from the company account and claim a company tax deduction as a result? Or will there be issues because the lease says residential lease on it and not commercial lease (even though it will be under the business name with me signing as director).

Hey @Lyricist3!

Nope, it will need to be'commercial' and not a 'residential' property. If you plan on using that property for business, there are deductions you may be eligible for.

A financial planner or accountant would be able to help you with what you're wanting to achieve by the sounds.
