Providing an updated document to the ATO after an application has been lodged

Context- I’ve submitted an application for compassionate release of super. During the application process I noted that the quotes must be less than three months old, and one of the quote I was required to provide was 3.5 months old. Due to time pressure of the surgery date approaching and the time it takes to turnaround quotes from specialIstanbul i opted to submit the application with the aged quote and seek an update while the application progressed. It’s been 4 business days since I submitted the application and I now have a refreshed quote and the amount is the same. I have tried to update the application by attaching the new quote but I have found there is no option to do this. The application status is “pending”.

Question - is there a way to send the refreshed quote to the team that will be reviewing the application?

concern - my concern is the application will be rejected with the old quote and the process will have to start again. If this is the case the release will not before the surgery and will require it to be rescheduled.

You have a few options available to you.

When they see the quote is a little out of date, they 'will' attempt to call you to see if you have an updated one. Some people accidently upload older quotes instead of the most recent and the ATO recognise this is a possibility so attempt to allow you to submit the most recent one.

They will need to give you the opportunity themselves as each pathway to upload extra documents is unique to the individual applicant / application.

You could also simply re-apply, as it has only been 4 days since you did apply, and that will reduce the worry you may have, keeping in mind, if you miss the call when they attempt it, they will reject and get you to re-apply anyway.

As per their main webpage on Expenses Eligible for Release on Compassionate Grounds, it does still say that quotes have to be no more than 6 months old. I looked it up specifically to make sure that hadn't been changed. Not sure where you're getting the 3 month validity from.

It's usually Invoices that have the shorter timeframe, being only eligible for 30 days. 🍀
