The line is always busy! I received a letter from ato that is overdue! I have already paid a month ago but on the email it was sent to me didn’t have reference number so I paid it with the previous one through my bank account, anyone has any idea how can I contact the ato and explain that I have already made payment please ?🙏

Generally, ATO would contact by physical letter or ATO portal via myGov
You can check your ATO portal or contact ATO by phone
Hi @Floarta,
@YellowPotato is correct. If we send payment reminders, they'll initially be a letter and issued through Australia Post, as this is a secure channel. There may be times we contact you by email, but this generally follows earlier contact with you, such as a phone call or other communication.
Any letter we send in relation to a current overdue tax amount should include the current and correct payment methods for payment.
If you made a payment without using the correct payment reference number (PRN), it may not have been matched to the correct tax account yet. This can explain why the amount is still showing as overdue.
Each payment to us needs the specific PRN for that account in the reference field so it can be allocated correctly and without delay. You can check this yourself through ATO Online services in myGov.
If the payment isn’t showing, or hasn’t been applied correctly, you’ll need to call our Lodge and Pay enquiries line so we can help locate it. It may help to try calling at different times during the day.
Before calling, it’s also a good idea to check your bank transaction details, so you can confirm what reference number and payee were used. If the payment wasn’t made to the ATO, you’ll need to contact your bank to discuss next steps.
