I am the treasurer of a small lawn bowls club that registered for GST in 2025. We lodge on quarterly basis and I have successfully lodged BAS using online services for the club. For the June quarter, due 28 July, I will be overseas from early June returning 31 July. What I need is a 2 week extension of the 28 July date, given I'd need about a week to update our accounting software. My question is how to apply to ATO for an extension (prefer not to phone and sit on hold for ages) and whether there is a short grace period, so do I even need to apply? And no, there is no-one else at the club who could lodge on my behalf as most members are 70+ and/or lack PC skills to reconcile our accounts using accounting software.

Hi mcandusio,
the first thing to check is whether the club is receiving the two week concessional due date for electronic lodgments for the June quarter - if so, you may not need to do anything. You can review the criteria at Two week lodgment concession – terms and conditions. If you started lodging through online services before when the most recent BAS would've issued for Q3 in early March, you could also have a look at your March BAS and see whether or not that received the concessional due date to help you confirm.
