Hello,

I am trying to apply for a Tax File Number (TFN) but I am facing an issue with identity documents.

I went to Australia Post to submit my TFN application, but my application was rejected because I do not have a passport or an Australian birth certificate.

I am a permanent resident / humanitarian entrant and I do have:

ImmiCard

Visa Grant Notice / proof of visa status

However, I was told these are not sufficient for the Australia Post identity check.

I would like to ask what is the correct way for me to apply for a TFN in my situation. Is there an alternative application process for people who do not have a passport or birth certificate but do have an ImmiCard and valid visa status?

Any guidance on the correct process would be appreciated.

Thank you.
