Even though online renewal is supposed to take the same 6 to 8 weeks for standard processing, I received my new passport in the mail just 12 days after submitting the application. Wasn’t expecting that! Not sure if that is typical, or if I would have had a similar result with a mail-in application?

Lucky you! We here at the ATO can't provide any information about passport processing times. Maybe someone in the community might be able to share their experience.
