Now that my wife and I are retired, it seems better, tax-wise, for the two of us as individuals to hold the ASX stocks that are currently owned by our private company - we are the two directors of the company. How easy is it to transfer the stocks from the company to the two of us? I note that transfer also involves paying CGT.

Would it perhaps be reasonable, or even preferable, for the company to sell the shares and then for my wife and I to buy back the shares as individuals?

I think that's outside the scope of this forum. You would need to check with share registry or the share platform the company uses for what forms to fill out, any fees and so on
