My current Working Holiday Visa is expiring, so I will be leaving the country, but I plan to return to Australia in about two years. My current pension will be transferred to the ATO (Australian Pension Service), but will it be possible to receive the remaining pension through DASP in the future?

Hi @Mahiru,

Yes, you'll still be eligible to claim your DASP even if you plan to return to Australia in the future. Claiming your DASP won't affect any future visa applications you make.

To be eligible for DASP, you need to meet all of these conditions:

  • you earned super while working in Australia on a temporary resident visa
  • your visa has expired or been cancelled
  • you've left Australia and don't hold any other active Australian visa.

Once your visa expires and you leave Australia, you can apply for your DASP. If your super fund transfers your super to us after six months, we'll hold it as unclaimed super and you can still claim it as a DASP later.

You can find detailed information about DASP eligibility and the application process on our departing Australia superannuation payment page. We recommend starting your application before you leave Australia, as it can be difficult to get all the required information once you've departed.
