I'm the authorised representative for my elderly mother. How do I go about preparing her tax return? I have not done this before. She is due for a refund of tax already paid.

Hi @MarkG_59,
If you're an authorised representative on your mother's tax account, you can help prepare and lodge the tax return.
But in saying that, if your mother is able to physically lodge it herself, she can do so through myTax in her ATO Online Services.
If you're authorised and lodging on your mother's behalf, you can:
- use a registered tax agent to prepare and lodge the return, or
- return a paper tax return.
Where you're preparing the return yourself, gather all her income info for the financial year, such as:
- income statement/s
- receipts for any deductions she can claim
- private health insurance statement, and
- bank account details for the refund.
Most of this info will pre-fill in the online system if your mother is going to lodge through ATO online services.
