Hi @dushshar,

You're right to be cautious about this email. The ATO and myGov will never send you attachments via email, and we won't ask you to open attachments or click links in unsolicited emails. This sounds like a scam.

If you receive a reassessment notice, it will appear in your myGov inbox when you log in directly through the official myGov website. We'll also send you a letter by post. We won't send tax documents or notices as email attachments.

Here's how to stay safe:

  • don't open the attachment or click any links in the email
  • delete the email from your spam folder
  • if you're expecting a reassessment, log in to your myGov account directly by typing the website address into your browser
  • check your myGov inbox for any genuine ATO correspondence.

If you have concerns that your tax information has been compromised or you've accidentally opened the attachment, we have information to help for identity theft.
